Wharf Precinct Redevelopment, Tasmania

The entire public forecourt, adjoining the wharf concourse and footpaths was constructed using Helix as the sole concrete reinforcement. A highly durable and aesthetically pleasing finish was called for in a harsh riverside environment just 500 metres from the ocean. The forecourt and concourse carry pedestrian and delivery vehicle traffic.

Helix Micro Rebar at a dosage rate of 12kg/m³ with just a few re-entrant bars and cast in elements were used. Concrete trucks were able to discharge at the work face eliminating the need for a pump. All stakeholders were extremely impressed with the results and the savings.
