Helix was used in the 75mm slab at a rate of 7kg/m3 in 25MPa concrete. The Helix replaced one layer of SL72 Mesh.
Safety for the park users is a priority and the local council did have concerns about steel fibres ‘sticking up’ and injuring users. Using conventional finishing techniques there was not a single fibre in sight and because no mesh had to be handled, two-thirds of the Park remained in use during the slab construction.
